Scooby Doo Games Download
Scooby-Doo! Mystery of the Fun Park Phantom by South Peak Interactive is a fairly good game for children. It tries to capitalize on the somewhat regained popularity of Scooby-Doo and the gang by placing them in a new adventure. The game is a mixed bag, succeeding in some areas while falling short in others.
The opening introduction to Scooby-Doo! Mystery of the Fun Park Phantom is entertaining and features animation that could be found on the actual cartoon show. The original introduction is also included in the game for those who enjoy the nostalgic touch.
Everyone loves adventures and mysteries, and everyone loves Scooby-Doo! But solving puzzles will be difficult. So take a lot of pizzas and let’s go, Scooby-Doo! Online games 'Scooby-Doo' are full of dynamic races and exciting quests. You will have to react quickly, because you have very little time left. Hurry up and run Scooby-Doo online!
Basically, your mission, playing as any member of the gang (your choice), is to find out who has been haunting the fun park and causing its closure. The method with which South Peak Interactive designers chose to accomplish this is at times a bit confusing but also slightly entertaining.
The point-and-click interface used in the game tended to get on my nerves. I could never get Shaggy, Velma or any other character under my control to do as I wanted. I was unable to move them smoothly to the right spot or pick up the right item without some degree of difficulty. At times, it was necessary to press the button three or four times to complete these simple tasks.
Further adding to the confusion are the random occurrences. Every so often, you run into the Phantom or some other potential suspect. The Phantom chases you and the only way to escape is to manage a sequence of buttons. This is not terribly unmanageable but does get slightly annoying after the third time or so.

One thing I like is the graphics. The game's appearance is much like the cartoon series and kids who watch the show on television will be impressed with the similarities. Scooby-Doo, obviously the star, is not a playable character but rather an assistant in performing activities. You must give him a Scooby Snack to get him to help you find clues and be a companion.
The basic gist of the game is to find clues and trap pieces to capture the Phantom. To do this, you must use 'action points.' Whenever you pick up a piece, speak to a person or move from one area to another, you use some amount of points. To win the game, you must capture the Phantom and discover his true identity. This is slightly tricky for younger children and no small feat for even older ones!
Scooby-Doo! Mystery of the Fun Park Phantom is a fun game, although it does get tedious after a while. The repetitive nature of button pressing can get annoying but, even so, the game does have some overall entertainment value.
Graphics: Very cartoon-like which is obviously what the developers were trying to achieve.
Sound: The voices are the same as in the television show. The sound effects could be a bit more comprehensive.
Enjoyment: It's fun to try and find out the mystery behind the fun park but the controls really put a damper on everything.
Replay Value: Getting through it once is enough. You could possibly beat it with all of the different characters but at the price of monotony.

Scooby-Doo Mystery was released rather late in the 16-bit era. While I am focusing on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version today, there is also a SNES version. Despite sharing the same name, each game offers a rather different experience and the majority of people much prefer what the Sega version is offering. I loved Scooby-Doo as a kid and still do now and this was a pretty fun game.
Two For One
One of the things that makes the game stand out is that you are kind of getting two for one. Rather than having one large story, you have two “episodes” that you can play through. In Blake’s Hotel, you are trying to help Daphne’s uncle who owns a hotel and all his patrons are being scared away by a native American ghost! The other Scooby-Doo Mystery that you need to solve is called, Ha, Ha Carnival; and as the name suggests you are in an amusement park that is being wrecked by an evil clown. Both stories capture the spirit of the show very, very well.
Oh, Gee Scoob!
As I said, this is a very faithful adaptation of the show. This rings most true for Scooby-Doo and Shaggy. They have captured their personalities very, very well and no matter what you do they will have some kind of little quip that will make you smile. The rest of the Mystery Gang is here and you can talk to them, but they do not have that same kind of magic, Shaggy and Scoob do.
It is a great looking game. They have some fantastic background art here and Scooby-Doo Mystery was clearly made by people that had a lot of love for the show. It looks as close to the real thing as the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis was capable of doing.
If It Wasn’t For Those Darn Kids!
The two different mysteries that you need to solve offer the same kind of gameplay. While the SNES version is more of a platformer. For this game, you have a point and click adventure game! There were not many games of this type on the 16-bit consoles and seeing them do it here is pretty awesome stuff. This kind of gameplay fits Scooby-Doo perfectly.
You can interact with pretty much everything on any given screen. Much of the gameplay is about talking to people and solving puzzles by finding one item and using it on something else. It is typical point and click adventure stuff. The problem is, this is one of those “what the hell am I supposed to do?” kind of games. There is very little direction here and it can get frustrating as you very often have no clue what to do. It is workable, but there is a great deal of trial and error on offer here.
I know some might see a 16-bit cartoon-based game and just assume it is another platformer. With that in mind, you have to give them credit for making Scooby-Doo Mystery a point and click adventure game instead. This fits Scooby doo perfectly and for a console, I feel that they did a good job. I just wish there was a bit more direction or a hint system letting you know what you need to do. If there was one of these, I probably would have scored the game a tad higher.
